As the nonprofit arm of Milwaukee Sports and Social, our goal is to assure that all Milwaukee Sports and Social players have a voice and an opportunity to share their thoughts and help us determine which projects and which parks in Southeast Wisconsin we should allocate the bulk of our resources to.
As such, we have developed the following 4-Step Project Selection Process:
At the beginning of each year (or after the completion of a project) Milwaukee Sports and Social Foundation will open a special page on our site that will allow our players and supporters to suggest ideas for our next project.
Projects may fall into 3 categories:
Creation of New Recreational Spaces (ex. adding a sport-specific court to a park)
Park Enhancements (ex. adding bleachers to a field for an improved experience)
Field Improvements (ex. adding proper drainage systems to fields to decrease flooding)
The parks we play in are are owned and operated by a local governing body who has the ability to accept or decline project proposals. This means that, while we may love a suggested project, the governing body overseeing the park may not sign off on the proposed change to the park for a multitude of reasons (such as a proposed project conflicting with an existing park renovation initiative).
After many players have a chance to provide input and suggestions, our Board of Directors will consolidate the ideas into 5-10 actionable project proposals that will be submitted to the local governing body for review. The governing body will then share which project proposals they are willing to accept. Once 2-5 projects are identified, we will return to Milwaukee Sports and Social's players and foundation supporters in Step 3.
This is where it starts to become real!
Milwaukee Sports and Social Foundation will share the accepted project proposals with our players and supporters. We will detail the total amount of money that we need to fund raise and the goal timeline for the project.
A new page on our site will be opened that will allow players and supporters to cast their vote for the project they most want to see completed.
Once the designated voting window expires, we will announce the winning project!
From that moment on, we will begin fundraising via fun Milwaukee Sports and Social events that you can take part in throughout the year!
Once we reach our fundraising goal, we will hire all necessary contractors to complete the project so that our players, supporters, and locals may begin enjoying the new amenity at the park!
The Grand Opening will be announced where we will invite all of our supporters to the ribbon cutting ceremony (complete with drinks and an after party, of course).
