Home Run Derby
About This Event:
Step up to the plate and swing for the fences at the Milwaukee Sports and Social Foundation Home Run Derby on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at West Milwaukee Park!
Starting at 10 AM, sluggers will battle through a bracket-style showdown using 12-inch softballs, launching moonshots over shortened outfields and temporary fences designed to keep the fireworks coming. NOTE: You will be asked to select your first round starting time window when registering!
Competitors will bring their own pitcher to lock in their timing as they chase their way through up to three high-stakes rounds on the road to the championship.
With Men’s, Women’s, and Teen divisions, the derby is open to hitters ready to prove they’ve got the power. Every swing fuels something bigger—raising funds to help the Milwaukee Sports and Social Foundation build and improve recreational green spaces across Wisconsin. Get ready for big hits, big energy, and a day of softball that gives back!
When registering, select your tournament from the drop down and then select your preferred start time/group! NOTE: MAX 10 competitors allowed in each group!

100% of proceeds will be donated to Milwaukee Sports and Social Foundation!
Format of Home Run Derby:
- Round 1: 30 pitches or 5 minutes, whichever comes first. Hitters attempt to hit as many home runs as they can.
- Round 2: The Top 30 batters advance to Round 2. In Round 2, hitters will have up to 5 minutes to hit as many home runs as they can. However, every non-home run hit will count as an out! Once the hitter reaches 10 outs, they are done! Meaning, they may not get their full 5 minutes if they go cold!
- Round 3: The Top 8 hitters will advance to the final round and bat in descending order based on the number of home runs they hit during Round 2. This round will not be timed. However, once a hitter reaches 7 outs, they are eliminated.
Note: In the event players are tied between rounds for the bottom spots, they will be given a quick 2-minute tie-breaker round to see how many more runs they can add to their total! Hitter who smash the most home runs in the tie-breaker round will advance and claim the bottom spots in the next round.
- MONEY BALL: After the conclusion of each round, hitters will get an opportunity to hit a home run with the Money Ball! If they hit a home run with the Money Ball, they will be credited 2 home runs for the one dinger!
