Join Milwaukee Sports and Social Foundation and MKE Mahjong for a large-scale Mahjong Tournament on Friday, July 24 at Dar Bar in West Allis, WI.

To create the best experience for players of all skill levels, the event will feature two tournaments running at the same time:

Beginner Tournament
Perfect for newer players or those still building confidence at the table.

Experienced Tournament
Designed for seasoned players ready for more competitive play.

Each tournament will include 10 tables, creating space for a fun, high-energy evening of mahjong, community, and friendly competition. Whether you are newer to the game or ready to test your skills against experienced players, this event offers a welcoming place to play while supporting Milwaukee Sports and Social Foundation’s work to strengthen communities through recreational green space projects across Wisconsin.

Registration: $50 per player
Capacity: 20 total tables/10 tables or 40 players per tournament

What’s Included

Your registration includes entry into the Mahjong Tournament, organized tournament play, Mahjong coaches, and access to an evening of social tables (if you are eliminated).

Make it to the later rounds and we will feed you a late night snack to keep you locked in to the tiles!

Grand Prize Per Tournament:

1st Place/Grand Prize: $100 Milwaukee Sports and Social Gift Card, (1) Free Entry Into a Future MKE Mahjong Social Group event in 2026.

2nd Place: $50 Milwaukee Sports and Social Gift Card, (1) Free Entry Into a Future MKE Mahjong Social Group event in 2026.

Who Should Register

This event is open to mahjong players of all backgrounds. Whether you are a seasoned player, a casual player, or newer to the game, this tournament is designed to be welcoming, social, and fun regardless of the skill level.

Coaches will be present in the opening rounds to provide coaching and monitor game play.

Tournament Format

Tournament format, rules, scoring, and table assignments will be shared with registered players prior to the event.

All games will be played with a timer that will help keep the rounds progressing on a timely manner.

MKE Mahjong hosts mahjong game nights and events throughout the Milwaukee area and was founded by Asian Americans seeking to build community around a shared love of mahjong, food, and friendly competition. The group welcomes new and experienced players of all backgrounds.
